From Lindbergh to Liberation Part II
University Center | Friday, March 21 • 10am
Instructor: Dave Tarrant • Aviation and Automotive
This two-part class charts the history of aviation as it developed rapidly between Charles Lindbergh’s famous flight to Paris in 1927 and the start of the postwar period in 1946. During this time, the foundation was firmly laid for all modern aviation, particularly commercial air travel. Part II covers the interaction of civilian and military aviation developments leading up to the start of WWII, as well as the war itself. The capability of aviation at the end of the war was nothing like had been practiced even in the late 1930s. This capability readily translated into the modern Jet Age, where safe, fast and convenient long-distance air travel is the norm.
